What our students say...

"I have recently done classes with Antonio Riva, tango teacher 'extraordinaire', and it has been an exhilarating experience. Not only because I learned so much about the history of tango itself but because every lesson was taught by Antonio with passion and dedication to detail. The importance of style, poise and posture was a constant reminder in order to move confidently on to the next level.

Thank you, Antonio and a huge 'thank you' to his partner Katherine too for her invaluable tips given during lessons."

"I attended many tango courses in London and I have to say that Antonio Riva is a very good tango teacher. Differently from others, he explains clearly and simply all the details of each simple or even difficult step.

I learned a lot from him and I polished my style thanks to him. I would suggest to everyone to take classes with him.

Thank you so much Antonio!"

"If you google, there are many tango teachers nowadays. Some of them are dancing for more than 10 years, some were even born in Argentina and others are big competition winners or world famous dancers. I've already been to classes of 5 different teachers. There is no doubt that they are "gods" on the dance floor, but can they teach you how to reach their level of dance?

After taking several lessons, you are coming to the dance floor. You really want to impress your girlfriend, wife or that beautiful one near the bar. You ask her for the dance, and then the embarrassing thing happens. These world famous teachers show you the patterns of the dance, which she doesn't know how to follow. They didn't explain to you how to lead and how to show you partner what the next step will be and where to go. They do not give you the dancing 'language'. They explain a couple of 'words', which can be combined in 'sentences', but they do not provide you with the 'alphabet' which is the base of the dance.

Dancing and leading for these teachers is like breathing. So any question you ask about the leading, you get the following answer: 'Just show it with your torso!', when you have no idea how to do that.
And then you, disappointed, embarrassed and hated by your partner, come to Antonio, who explains that 'you cannot run, when you don't know how to walk'. He shows you that tango is a dance of passion, intimacy and variety, but not a dance of strict patterns. He explains and shows how to stand, how to move, how to lead and how to follow. Any gesture and every move will be explained in details, and personally corrected if you are doing it wrong. Even after a couple of classes you understand that you can basically dance tango, knowing the simplest 'alphabet' of the dance. You may not make any awesome moves and gestures, but you can do whatever you want, and build your dance according to the dancing rules, because you know them. And Antonio is sincerely interested in your dancing improvement from the start till the very end.

My fiancée and I enjoyed every hour we spent in his classes. And we are very thankful for all the lessons he gave us."

"When I first came to the tango class by Antonio I had danced tango only once at a milonga and had visited one class by a different teacher. So I had absolutely no idea about how this dance is going to work out for me.

Antonio is very good at explaining the basics to total beginners, so if you are thinking about starting doing tango, this is the best place to go. All the explanations you will be given use very simple words and notions that everyone knows and uses every day: there is no need for dancing background or knowledge of terms.

Another great thing is Antonio's attention to detail and step-by-step guidance: even if you are doing a very simple side step, he will explain in great details what exactly should the body of the leader do and how to control it. This is essential, as for beginners there is no way of knowing beforehand how to "show" the lady that she needs to step this or that way.
After my partner and I visited the first class, where we were literally standing for half of the time and another half was devoted to stepping sideways, we have made a tremendous improvement in understanding each other in the dance.

In Antonio's classes you will not be rushed, you will not be pushed to 'remember' a particular routine, but he makes sure that from the very first step leaders are learning to lead and followers to follow without knowing the pattern in advance. This is essential, as you start from the right place.

I would definitely recommend people interested in tango to try Antonio's classes."
